FCCERS Project

Linking Families and Communities together with Children and Families of Iowa created these programs to help empower parents in Calhoun, Pocahontas and Webster counties with children 0-5 in raising happy, healthy children.

Programs available through Children and Families of Iowa:

 

Play Groups


Play groups are designed to provide a fun, non-threatening resource for parents/caregivers of children ages 0-5.  The group will provide a nurting environment in which parents and other caregivers can connect and share ideas, learn about community resources, access parenting information and enjoy family activities at no cost.  See links below for play group dates and times in your county.

Incredible Years Parenting Classes


CFI offers parent education classes which utilize the Incredible Years Parenting Curriculum.  The Incredible Years is and evidenced based program that provides age appropriate strategies and tools to address the developmental needs of the children.  The program works to teach parents to be nurturing and have positive relationships with their children while promoting te chidlren’s use of appropriate conflict management skills, strengthen social skills, increase emotional awareness, increase self-esteem and reduce aggressive behavior problems.

Classes will be offered two times each year in Calhoun, Pocahontas and Webster Counties.  Classes are held weekly for 6 weeks at no cost to families.  For more information or to sign-up please contact: Kate Tewald at 515-573-2193.

One on One In Home Parent Education


CFI can work with families in teh community who can benefit from parenting skills that may also face barriers preventing them from accessing parenting classes and other opportunties.  Family workers are available to help offer parenting classes in the home.  Contact CFI at 515-573-2193 for more information.

 

 

Therapy & Counseling Services


Children and Families of Iowa’s mental health services offer support and guidance to families.  They help children and adults make healthy, positive changes in their lives.  These services are provided through individual, couples and family therapy, group work and in-home counseling services.  Programs that may be beneficial to you and your family:

 

  • Play Therapy is provided by a LMSW who specializes in work with children and their parents.
  • Behavioral Health and Intervention Services (BHIS) can occur in the home, office or community setting.  Both adults and children who have XIX and a mental health diagnosis are eligible for this service.
