Preschool Tuition Assistance

Preschool Tuition Assistance

Linking Families and Communities is able to offer preschool tuition scholarships for children age 3,4 and 5 that are not receiving tuition assistance through any other program (i.e Statewide Voluntary Preschool Program, Shared Visions, Head Start, etc.).  Scholarships will be given on a first come/first served basis and will pay 100% of the tuition for children that are at or below 200% of the federal poverty guideline. Scholarships will be provided to those whose income is above 200% of the federal poverty guidelines on a sliding fee scale. Tuition Assistance is confidential.

(** Please note: only applications for the 2011-2012 school year are available at this time.  2012-2013 school year applications will be available July 1st, 2012, pending funding availability.)

Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS)
ECERS is used as a tool to measure program quality within the 3 to 5 year old age range.  This program improvement tool was used as a goal to improve the quality of preschools in Webster, Calhoun and Pocahontas counties. The ECERS evaluates such things as:

  • Space and Furnishings;
  • Personal Care Routines;
  • Language-Reasoning;
  • Activities;
  • Interactions;
  • Program Structure; and
  • Parents and Staff.

Linking Families and Communities started the ECERS process in August of 2007 with all area preschools. The goal was to reach an average of 5, with no subscales less than 2 by Spring of 2009. Click the link to see their scores: Preschool ECERS Scores

***Please note: preschools on the score list tallied with an X, were awarded the Voluntary 4-Year Old Free Preschool Grant and moved to the QPPS process.

More information regarding the ECERS assessment can be found on their website: www.fpg.unc.edu/ECERS
